Not to go all norma rae on you or anything but if things are going to change in Dallas as far as the support of the team the fans are going to have to do it. I think as a community of soccer fans in Dallas we arent asking that the media be at PHP everyday trying to dig a story….cause honestly there probably isnt one. But if they featured the team maybe once a month it would go along way toward increasing the visiblity of the team. There is a lot of stuff going on at the team other than the senior team.
Well to that end I have started a petition online. If you are a soccer fan in Dallas please sign it. If you are a soccer fan outside of Dallas sign it also. Support the league that your Red Bulls, your Galaxy, your Sounders are in. Give the media in Dallas an idea how your team is covered. The soccer fans in Dallas need your help!

Ok what the hell. I roll over to the Seattle Sounders blog to check out what a successful blogger does on her blog. Laurie has been blogging the Galaxy for two years and now has taken over the Sounders. I scroll down and see that the Seattle paper has a blogger for the Sounders. We are one of the biggest sports towns in the nation. We have one of the most successful franchises in the NFL. Why cant we get at least a blog on the Dallas Morning News website? Even better HOW ABOUT A BEAT WRITER! Every article in the paper is an AP article.
Being new at this I havent figure out if there is a way to post a poll…hint hint Daryl..HELP! But please send me some feedback that I can take to the paper. Lets get them to stop treating the Hoops like second class citizens. There is so much good stuff going on at the club that needs coverage!

Dear Hitch-
Now that you are back from your visit to Brazil I figured this would be a good time to send you my semi monthly letter. The preseason was definately interesting. We picked up DVB to shore up the midfield. And from what I have read and my limited ability to make training sessions its making a great difference. Hell I think in the preseason we have scored more goals in games than most of the games last season. This brings me to my next point. WHERE THE HELL IS THE DEFENSE! I understand that it is preseason still. Therefore we shouldnt make that big a fuss over these early games. How hard is the strike force going to have to work this year to make up for all the holes on the defensive end of the field. Forget the strike force poor Dario. That dude is going to spend more time in the whirlpool recovering from the barrage that he is likely to take this year. What happened with the Serioux deal? I mean more allocation money? Are we trying to become the First National Bank of FCD? I can look in the future and see that there might be a certain number of American players that are looking at coming back to the states. I hope that you are hoarding the clubs pennies to make a move on one or more of those players. It is just frustrating to see a hard working player like Adrian go for what looks like little reward.
Now on to something that makes me very happy. You know of my love of all things Dax McCarty. Guys like Dax are going to be the back bone of US Soccer and hopefully the Hoops for a long time. Its nice to see that Schellas had the smarts enough to see in Dax what alot of the fans see in Dax. Its also a tribute to his professionalism that he is willing to go back to a coach that last year sat him down just to spite him. It looks like he is adapting to the type of football that Schellas wants to play and is becoming a better player because of it.
The system. Something we have been lacking at the club for a long time. Now that Schellas has the pieces he said he needed to make his system work what is going to be the excuse if it doesnt work out this year? How long is the club going to give Schellas to be successful? Is he going to be allowed to change the system if it doesnt work?
With all that being said it seems like there is a lot to look forward to this season. And oh thanks for fixing the concession problem.:) Alot of the preseason goals that you have set for the team have been realized. The team has alot of positive stuff going for it….its going in the right direction. Now for all of your fans in the larger category can you PLEASE get larger sizes in the team store. (And before I get flaming responses the biggest size they have in the team shop right now is XL.) After all how am I supposed to spill ketchup on an FC Dallas jersey if there isnt one that fits!

I swear this team is like a hot chick that wont put out. We do something pretty awesome and get David Ferreira. After a little research he is a midfield that can actually make something happen. This will allow Dax/Guarda (the pet) to play in the positions that they are meant to play. Seems like we got him for the right price. We get to test drive him before we buy him….I like that….But….
Serioux goes back to Toronto? I understand he wanted to go home to be with him family. That is cool I respect that. But did we need more allocation money? Do we need another first round draft pick in ‘10? I mean I think we went into this offseason with more allocation money than the Sounders! They are supposed to have the cash they are building a damn team! Is the team going back to youth? So we trade a defender, granted hes hurt alot and getting older, for really no return this year. The only thing that redeems this trade for this year, if this is even possible, is if they can use the cash to resign Coop.
Schellas has been taking this offseason making the team better for the most part…..just wonder if the defense is going to be swiss cheese. I honestly hope I am wrong and we can make a great run for the cup.

Due to the economy sucking this year (thanks W…must not talk politics on football blog 
) I have not renewed my season tickets this year. This may backfire on me cause if Beckham doesnt come back there is not much incentive for ticket brokers in town to stock tickets to our Hoops so I wont be able to get insanely cheap tickets. But for the games that I do go to I am going to either Blog here or set up a twitter from the game. That way the wayward hoops fans that cant get the game on TV can catch the action.

This is like christmas when I was a kid. You spent the weeks leading up to Christmas listening for your parents to drop a hint as to what you were going to get this year. All the boxes look in the right shape…the right weight….The anticipation of Christmas morning just waiting till the accepted time to wake your parents (BTW its 7:30…its the law!). Right now we are right to the orgasmic opening of the present……
And here we wait till the March 21st home opener. Waiting with baited breath to see if the shiny new team that we have here in Frisco is going to be the present you wanted all year or clothes from your grandmother. Fortunately I think for the fans of this team were going to get the former. We played the Rapids today in Florida…1-0. A respectable result for a preseason game. I just wonder if it was a game like last season when Dario and Ray looked like the fat kid in the Mighty Ducks movie when they tied him to the goal. Or if we actually played defense and just couldnt score till the end of the game. Oh wait that was the team from last year. Consistency was not our strong suit.
On another note WE GOT NEW CONCESSIONAIRES! It is good to see that the FO is actually listening to some of the comments of the fans. The proof will be in the pudding as they say but if I get my brat and not miss half the game I am going to be one happy camper!
Did I mention that I am also a Bears fan? So yes I am natually a pessimist and want to be proven wrong with this team. Here is hoping that we get a great gift from our beloved Hoops this season. A box full of consistantly good play, a better fan experience, and a whole lot of Dax McCarty! HAHAHA

And here is where we are going to find out what this team hell this organization is made of. The core of this team has remained generally the same. Lets see what the attitude is. We have brought in a bunch of new pieces. This is going to be the time where we see if the major change last season…the coach…was worth it. There are going to be no more excuses . Schellas had about half a season to try and make it work with what he had. When it didnt work he blamed his tools. Now hes got the tools he says he needs. Hes put Dax “in his place.” The defense looks tons better from the preseason scrimmages. His system is now in place. Every thing he wanted is now in place. Lets see if the investment was worth it.

Someone once told me that good coaches find players to fit their system…great coaches find a system to fit their players. Unfortunately this lesson has been lost on the bus driver. We now have a great player sitting at home in Dax because Schellas cant find away to get through to this young player. So instead of inviting him to camp and maybe trying to take advantage of a resource that he has he is going to get nothing for a player that doesnt want to be here anymore. What coach in their right mind will give FCD what Dax is really worth right now? Everyone knows that he doesnt want to be here and that the coach doesnt want him here. The only offer that they are going to get for him are going to be low balls in the dirt.
So far this preseason we have taken one step forward and one step back. We add a great player in DVB and lose a potential great player that could have partnered with him in the midfield.
sigh its going to be a long season….
