Hello FC Dallas

Don’t worry I’m not going to do the clichéd blogger introduction of “What I believe…” with catchy one-line statements where one thought seemingly opposes the other under the guise of being cool; because this isn’t about me, it’s about us, the FC Dallas faithful. The ones who were heartbroken when Mark Wilson’s extra-time shot was pushed over the crossbar in the 2005 US Open Final, the ones who rejoiced when Jorge Rodriguez put home the final penalty as the boys lifted the silverware in ’97 and those of us who cannot stand Colorado Rapids midfielder Kyle Beckerman, this is for you.
Now that I have you all lathered up in Hoops pride, time for the truth. I know very little about what I just wrote, for years I barely followed MLS even as I religiously watched the Men’s National Team. About 2 months ago I bought FIFA ’06 on a whim at used CD store and played with FC Dallas against anyone because Eddie Johnson and Carlos Ruiz was too much fun to deny – somebody ask me one day about my FC Dallas career team on FIFA ‘06. Once this season started I decided to finally pay attention to America’s soccer league (I’ll deal with the USL and Toronto FC later…maybe) and since I already had my team to root for it was almost natural. Now I’m not going to pretend I’m the smartest guy in the room (I’ll leave that for Jose Mourinho) because I’m pretty sure you know more than me, but that just makes this an interactive experience (kinda like the ‘Yard Work Simulator’ …anyone?) So welcome to Dallas, where the FC stands for “Flavor Country”…no, no it doesn’t, that was just a joke dying to be made.

Welcome aboard. I think Houston is the only MLS team that doesn’t have a blogger now. I look forward to reading more about the Hoops. (America’s version, anyway … Celtic are still the real “Hoops”).
