Oh the weather outside is weather…
By: Harlan | January 5th, 2011Apologies I’ve been away for most of the winter here. Not much brewing in FCD-land over the last month or so…but I wanted to check in and give you a recap of FCD news. And as a token of my apology…check out the video below from the FC Dallas media department featuring the 2010 season in review. Good stuff.
So for a recap:
MLS announced season openers throughout the league for 2011. We’ve got the Chicago Fire at PHP, March 19th at 8:30pm.
MLS MVP and stalwart midfielder David Ferreira has agreed in principle to new terms with the league on a contract that will keep him in Dallas in 2011. The deal is expected to be finalized early this year.
Four FCD players, Ugo Ihemelu, Eric Alexander, Zach Loyd and Brek Shea were called into USMNT camp for January.
FCD announced a preseason game set for Saturday February 12th at 2 PM at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, against the Houston Dynamo.
FCD has acquired 22-year-old goalkeeper Chris Seitz from the Seattle Sounders to backup Kevin Hartman in 2011. This also signaled the end for Dario Sala in Red Stripes.
Another departure is polarizing striker Jeff Cunningham, who was selected by Columbus in round 2 of the MLS Re-entry Draft.
FCD midfielder Marvin Chavez’s great play in 2011 was rewarded when he received a call-up from the Honduran National Team.
The rumor mill should be heating up over the next few weeks. I will keep you informed on thoughts as best I can.
And finally…without further ado, a video treat to hold us over.
