Peter Nowak is on notice

First off let me say congrats to Dax McCarty for making Coach Peter Nowak’sU-23 Olympic team; now that that’s out of the way, FIRE COACH PETER NOWAK! I never thought I’d get to a European level of ridiculousness and seriously consider firing a coach simply for not picking a player but Nowak’s decision to leave Arturo Alvarez off the U-23 roster is idiocy at the highest levels.
I’ll admit I am an Arturo Alvarez fan and now that Carlos Ruiz is in LA he might be my favorite Hoop but regardless of personal feelings, he can play. How many more times does Arturo have to beat a guy off the dribble before he gets the credit he deserves? Three, six, ten? He’s got creativity to spare and even in small spaces he is able to be aggressive.
Look at the list of midfielders taking his place:
Freddy Adu (SL Benfica), Maurice Edu (Toronto FC), Eddie Gaven (Columbus Crew), Stuart Holden (Houston Dynamo), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Dax McCarty (FC Dallas), Sal Zizzo (Hannover 96)
You could make an argument he’s better than all of them, including Freddy “please don’t push me because I will fall” Adu.
I, I, I am just boiling with rage at this point and I don’t know what else to say. That doesn’t mean I’m turning on team USA because I’ll still root for them to win but it’d be a lot easier with Alvarez in the mix.
Tonight in Dallas we all fume because of this tragedy; not picking Arturo Alvarez means that the FC makes it harder for USA to beat “France and Croatia.”

Who would you see him taking the place of? An Eddie Gaven?
And Adu shines in these youth competitions. Thats why he is there. And hopefully, a resounding performance would open Benfica to trying him more.

Who could Arturo Alvarez take the place of? There’s no way I’d get rid of Dax McCarty (that’s the homerism in me) and Freddy Adu is only good against people his age so he should stay and I like Maurice Edu. After that it doesn’t really matter to me but Eddie Gaven can stay home, Stuart Holden plays for Houston so he should be left off as well.
I don’t like Houston.
