Please someone break his arm before Sunday!

HAHA only kidding…kind of. But he is part and parcel of what is wrong with this team right now on defense. For someone to take a throw in….granted Adrian throws like most people kick….and get a header off of it to score..no excuse. Especially when its the Chicken Man. There are few celebration dances that I cant stand but his is one of them.

What does this team need to win against Toronto? They need heart. In the movie The Replacements Gene Hackman’s coach character gets asked as he is coming off the field what his team needs to win the game at the half. He responds they need miles and miles of heart. They need to find that little something within themselves as a team to pull together and not be happy with fluke goals. Cause lets be honest the goals that we have scored this year have been flukes. 60 yard goals? While cool as all hell and Sportscenter worthy do you want to depend on having to do that? I dont think so. The first goal that Pablo scores in his MLS career is a back heal? They need to play solid soccer for themselves. The fans are nice. Playing for the coach is nice. But they need to play for pride. Period. They need to fight for the shirt. When Bobby Rhine retired last year I think the heart of the team went with him. At a recent season ticket holder lunch it was quite telling to me that more than one person BEGGED him to come back.

On to the last thing that FCD needs. They need a coach that is going to inspire them. My other true love in the football world is Chelsea blue. And yes I am going to gush about Chelsea on the FCD blog. But the game today against Liverpool in the first half was probably the worst half of soccer that I have seen Chelsea play as a team for a long time. Now granted with that team you can almost put it on auto pilot and let them play. But when they went into half time Gus Hiddik said something to the team to fire them up. They came out a totally different team. They werent going to let Liverpool come into the Bridge and push them around. The stripes should mean something. When FCD goes into the half I get the feeling that Schellas is saying in the locker room “Well guys at least were not down more than 2 goals.” If Schellas is not going to be the “inspirational” leader someone has to step up. Someone has to get this team fired up and say enough is enough. GET PISSED. FCD needs a John Terry to stand up in the locker room and say we arent playing well….we can play better…and if you dont your going to answer to me. I hope that person is Pablo.

My final words are a plea to the team. Guys we have become a laughing stock in the league. We are the oldest club without and silverwar. For Christ’s sake we are under Los Angeles without Beckham in the table. Please come out with all guns blazing against Toronto. I know the MLS season is a long one. But please make us believe that sitting in 102 degree heat in Texas in the summer is worth the time.
