we are mad as hell and were not going to take it anymore!!

By: Scott | March 10th, 2009

Not to go all norma rae on you or anything but if things are going to change in Dallas as far as the support of the team the fans are going to have to do it. I think as a community of soccer fans in Dallas we arent asking that the media be at PHP everyday trying to dig a story….cause honestly there probably isnt one. But if they featured the team maybe once a month it would go along way toward increasing the visiblity of the team. There is a lot of stuff going on at the team other than the senior team.

Well to that end I have started a petition online. If you are a soccer fan in Dallas please sign it. If you are a soccer fan outside of Dallas sign it also. Support the league that your Red Bulls, your Galaxy, your Sounders are in. Give the media in Dallas an idea how your team is covered. The soccer fans in Dallas need your help!

Ok so you dont like Dallas. Do you like the league? How long do you think the current management is going to let the team exist selling 5k for a home opener on a Sat? How is that going to look for the MLS that one of the founding clubs is having a problem drawing 5k for a home opener? There are advantages to helping in this cause. Plus I am sick and tired of hearing about how Dallas is not a football town. Look at the MLS Cup when it was here. That place was packed and we didnt have a dog in that fight. We will back football/soccer. We just have to show it.

Scott I signed your petition I grew up in Dallas and went when the Dallas Tornado played the NY Cosmos with Pele and Beckenbauer on the Cosmos and ther was no media coverage at all. This has been and continues to be a problem in all of the US for the real football. In my opion it was the major downfall of the NASL and the MSL would have been history by now if it was not for the internet to get information and foxsoccer tv (if you have cable of dish) I live in Ausitn and the situation is worse we have a usl-1 team the Aztex no info in local media I had to read about the exhibition game with the Houston Dynmo in the Houston media. Of course I was at the game I volunter my time to help the Austin Aztex but want to get attendence counts no news coverage on tv or paper here discraceful. We have the Columbus Crew this weekend still no metion in media

Is Beckham playing in a game at Pizza Hut Park? Can you borrow Serioux from Toronto for the day? Because I’d totally pay money to fly to Dallas to see him take out Beckham for the Hoops again.

Seriously, though, I agree with you completely. It’s ridiculous for a town with a professional sports team to provide so little media coverage.

Ive beet rooting for FC Dallas to win a championship for quite some while. I seriously think they should get rid of Hitchcock – stir up things in the front office.

But I have to give it to Becks Laurie. Hes no whimp. He got all up in adrians face when that went down. If you have ever stood next to adrian…..not the smartest of ideas.

Anthony-I think its more of a systemic disease with this club. They all suffer for lack of imagination :)

Soccer can and will succeed in Dallas. We have the players, who have the capabilities to make it happen. I think we need to market to the Frisco area more. Let them know they live in FC Dallas territory. Billboards need to be put up with Coop and Moor as the face of our franchise. I think as fans we need to all come together and come up with ideas about how we can individually market the game. If the media’s not gonna do it, lets make them regret it!!

    RMC-

If thats how you feel get your friends to help me do something about it. The media will do something about it if they feel like they will get something out of it. Get your friends to sign my petition. But im not going to push this with 10 signatures…kind of defeats the purpose.

Yeah I def sign your petition, but as a fan of MLS and FC Dallas, I want to create a newsletter that is produced by the fans and distributed throughout the DFW area. FC Dallas is a brand that needs to be sold and convince people that soccer is real in North America. e-mail me rmcasner@olemiss.edu
