We pick up another old guy :)
By: Scott | January 13th, 2009Looks like the bus driver got his wish. We picked up Dave van den Bergh for Oduro and swapping of some draft picks. As my friend at points out we are stack with youth. This could go one of two ways as far as I can see. First both teams get great players out of the deal. The Hoops get someone who can score and fills a spot at the wing that we have been looking for. The Red Bulls get a player that leaves everything on the field everytime he plays. It seems like Dom was always in the right place at the right time to start a play or capitalize on a mistake. Dom also bring an intangible to the game. He brings some marketing ability. There is a spark to the game when he is playing. Not to mention the celebration we get treated to everytime he put the ball in the net. Dom also gave of himself to the community. My kid goes to camp at FCD in the summer. When there was a call for a player to show up he was right there for the kids. He was an under utilized property at Dallas on the field and in the marketing department.
But the thing that really scares me is Hitch has the Jerry Jones idea of building a team. Go and pick a coach that has an ok record…hes passable. Then go and pick some almost over the hill players so that on paper we look really strong. Sprinkle in some youth for the people that want to see some growth and see what happens.
Just look at the Cowboys season and you will get your answer….

DVB is a solid pick up. With all your youth and such, he will serve as an excellent positive influence, and a threat on FK’s and left crosses. Bench him when you play us. He is an old guy with plenty of skill.
And guarunteed with his wifes roots in your community, he too will be a proper and outstanding representative to the neighborhood on FCD’s behalf.
And thanks for the inside on Dom. I can definitely see him, Angel and Richards causing fits for defenses.
